Food, sun, and organic produce. What isn’t there to love about local farmers markets?! This past week Lindsey and I hit up the Upper Arlington Farmer’s Market with the camera in hand for some good ol’ vitamin D and fresh veggies! UA’s Farmers Market is every Wednesday from 3-6:00 at the Senior Center behind Tremont Elementary.
Do you know how bad I wanted his name to be Luigi?! It’s not, it’s Michael De Massimo and his spaghetti sauce is better than Mario & Luigi’s! We tried his homemade pasta sauce passed down through generations of his family and it was DELISH! Lindsey bought a can of the spicier one we both loved it so much! We will report back when she cooks with it!
Michael was so awesome! His family comes from Cleveland so you know his Italian roots are true! 🙂 One of the many reasons we love these events are the local people who LOVE telling you about their products they put so much hard work into and it shows!
Lindsey doesn’t want me to tell you how many times she tried these cake pops. But she can assure you all the flavors from Sadie Baby Sweets are really really good!
Ok, first Luigi then a Cowboy….we died!!!! He didn’t want his picture taken but sheepishly changed his mind and let me snap a few really quick. I thought I was going to have to tear Lindsey off of him, he was the sweetest old man, Gary Courtright, from Gold n Harvest Farm in Canal Winchester. He’s a bee keeper and his honey and eggs are GORGEOUS. He told us the coolest story about these jars he kept the honey in and how they were from the 1800’s. I wish I could remember it but I can’t. He was a really neat man and who doesn’t love a kind old cowboy selling honey?
Did you know that local honey is the best way to combat seasonal allergies?! I know, right, what’s there to lose? All natural and not to mention TASTY!
Jones Farm Fresh Produce
Washington Courthouse, Ohio
I don’t even think I have to say anything about this produce, it speaks for itself it is SO STUNNING! I get super excited sometimes with how a photo turns out and like to say “that’s skill!” But honestly, it was the produce! The produce that the Jones family bring in from Canal Winchester made my job easy! Everything was so fresh, right from the farm!
Lindsey bought some eggs and thinks she may never go back to grocery store eggs. There is clearly a huge taste difference (in her mind) and aren’t brown eggs just fancier? Yup, Linds, they definitely are! (Eye roll).
Next time you want to get some fresh veggies, definitely skip the grocery store and hit a local market! You won’t regret it!
