Columbus’s food scene is so hip and happening. It is one of my favorite parts about this great city, so many unique and delicious spots for not only food but also beer and cocktails.
The Short North’s Standard Hall was kind enough to invite a group of Columbus blogger’s to Saturday brunch, this past weekend. Not only did we get to graze their brunch menu we also got to experience the best bloody bar in town!
Founded in June 2016, Standard Hall is the newest concept from the owner’s of Short North Pint House and Forno Kitchen + Bar, a couple of my other favorite hot spots.
Standard is an industrial neighborhood hangout, boasting a large patio and featuring made-from-scratch food, cold craft beer and specialty cocktails.
There is a contest you can enter on Instagram, so make sure to photograph your masterpiece when you visit, then post and tag, using the above hashtag.
Minimal bloody bar, Standard’s is not!
Traditional, spicy or their signature green tomatillo base with choice of house blended rims, pickled and fresh veggies, way too many hot sauces and hot snacks.
I sampled several of the offered hot sauces and I can assure you there is a flavor and temperature for everyone.
The snacks were soooo… good and there were so many yummy fried options. Onion rings, jalapeno poppers, fried cheese, mini sausages, I could go on! I almost felt full just from the bloody mary snacks. I contemplated not ordering a food item but that thought quickly passed.
I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Biscuit
Hot or mild Nashville chicken breast, spicy honey, chipotle mayo on a housed made cheddar biscuit.
I ordered the mild because the waitress said the hot was hot and I wanted to actually eat the sandwich. Mild still had a kick to it, I love hot and spicy so I think next time I might try the hot one.
Anytime I see Hot Chicken anything on a menu, I instantly know that is what I’m ordering. Surprisingly enough I have still never had Columbus’s famous Hot Chicken Takeover at the North Market, I know that’s hard to believe, it is a top priority of mine!
Bloggers Be Blogging, Brunch Style.
Chorizo gravy, scrambled eggs, cheddar, mozz-provolone mix, roasted red peppers, hash browns and scallions.
Not Your Standard Hash Browns.
All The Way.
Make sure you get them, all the way. There really is no other way to have them and they were so delicious my mouth is watering all over again just looking at that picture.
Cinnamon French Toast Crunch Sticks
If you’re in need of dessert before you are finished, Standard has you covered there as well.
One of their specialty menu items are the boozy cocktails,
We got to to sample an unreleased flavor, mango with flavored Red Bull and vodka dipped in champagne. Basically what everyone needs to start their day.
If you are not in to bloody mary’s or boozy cocktails, I recommend the Manmosa.
32 oz. mug with Smirnoff orange, fresh OJ, topped with Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat beer.
Make sure to check out all these Columbus Girl Bosses!
