The Keep

Located in the historical Leveque Tower, The Keep Liquor Bar is a modern french brassiere and bar concept courtesy of nationally acclaimed concentric restaurant and acclaimed Chef Jonathan Olson.

Both the dining room and the bar pay homage to the old while ushering in a modern, and unique, food and beverage program. The bar is open daily and offers guests a comforting space to relax and lounge over a raw bar, drinking, nibbles and shareable options. The state of the art beverage program ranges from regional craft beers, specialty cocktails, a serious whiskey selection and a top notch by the glass or bottle wine program.

An open kitchen, a chef’s table and intimate booth are nestled among ambient gas lighting and floor to ceiling palladium windows allowing guests a one of a kind experience within a warm and eclectic space.

Where do I even begin?

Four Columbus Bloggers left The Keep calling themselves, ‘The Queens of Columbus,” if that’s any indication on how my experience went.

Believe it or not, that’s not the start to a bad joke but a true indication of how much we enjoyed every bite at The Keep.

We were seated at the coveted Chef’s table, which overlooks the happenings and bustle of the kitchen. From the moment we stepped foot in the door, the entire staff treated us as if we were, well, Queens of Columbus.

The Keep is dark and perplex. There are shadowy corners tucked away, that add to the mystery of the gas lighting throughout the space.

It gives ode to a timelessness while also paying tribute to a more modern era. It’s stunning and warm and I basically never wanted to leave.

They started our meal, by once again treating us like royalty and bringing out an enormous and dazzling Grand Tower adorned with luscious looking seafood. My favorite variety of food, I could live off the sea happily. One didn’t like shrimp, one didn’t like oysters, I greedily helped myself to every bite of the deliciousness and cannot rave enough about all of it. We didn’t let the smoked white fish or chilled lobster ceviche exit our table until we licked the bowl clean. True story.

We all ordered different entrees to maximize our tastings and trying’s of The Keep’s menu. I am happy to report, out of the four meals, not a single one was left behind.

From the filet, the scallops and pork cheeks, to the chicken and waffles I am here to declare that The Keep is slayyyying the food game in Columbus.

I will not be adequately able to put into words just how fabulous our meal and experience was at Leveque Tower’s, The Keep.

Seriously, just go. Stop everything you are doing and make a reservation. Go with a full belly and prepares to treat yo’ self to a fine dining experience.

Grand Tower -100

One dozen oysters, one pound of creole shrimp, chilled lobster ceviche, smoked whitefish rillete.

I licked that ceviche bowl with absolutely no shame.

The Keep also offers brunch, which I will be trying ASAP. I can’t even image the flavors they are able to highlight and incorporate into breakfast.

I’m really not sure I could pick a favorite dish. I am serious, everything was melt in your mouth delicious. If you absolutely put a gun to my head and made my choose, I might have to go with the scallops. The green tea noodles were the perfect combo and addition to perfectly cooked scallops.

Food For Foster ALWAYS gets the scallops, wherever she goes. If they are on the menu, girlfriend knows what she’s having, so it was an easy decision for her on what to order. Girl, knows her scallops and is still raving about these bad boys today.

The bread crumbs that add just the slightest crunch to a perfect dish, I could go on and on and on.

Green Tea Noodles, Miso Butter, Rapini Chili Flake, Mushroom Broth, Breadcrumb

Just when you thought you couldn’t eat another bite, The Keep unleashes it’s undeniable desserts!

The menu at The Keep changes daily and seasonally so I could not find their listed desserts, so when you visit just know you should order one of everything! Because they are not listed on the website, I of course cannot remember the proper names of the desserts or exactly what goes into them but let me sum it up by stating, HOLY MOLY YUM!!!!!!!!!!

This Buckeye inspired dessert was my favorite. Well beside the little French Beignets that were warm and perfect. One bite of this chocolate smothered buckeye contraption had me singing Carmen Ohio the whole way home.

I cannot thank The Keep enough, for their generous hospitality.

Every single person we spoke with enhanced our experience and they are truly a wonderful group of people working together to serve some incredible food and drink. It is not lost on me, how lucky I am to experience these incredible places, so I can share them with you. I am so grateful for people who see the value in blogging and continue to support me in my ventures.

Special shout out to Michele from Irvin PR on helping coordinate all of the details.

Thanks to Food For Foster & The Keep for supplying me with awesome photos since I did not have the right lens with me.
